The Voice and the Revolution
In the midst of inspiring a revolution that will completely transform the world, Jesus makes this stunning proclamation:
“Truly, I say to you, among those born of women there has risen no one greater than John the Baptist.”
When one of the most extraordinary teachers, influential leaders, and divisive figures to ever live speaks so highly of another man, one should wonder who this man is.
• What made John so significant?
• What was his mission, and why was it such a threat to the established order?
• Was he starting a revival so he could lead a revolution?
John, an extreme radical, was a man of integrity, unafraid to confront the corrupt political and religious leaders of his day, standing as the vital bridge between the Old and New Testaments. His coming was foretold by the prophet Malachi 430 years prior, making him the only prophet to proclaim the coming Messiah and live to see Him in the flesh.
In fact, according to Jesus, John was much more:
“What did you go out into the wilderness to behold? … To see a Prophet? Yes, I tell you, and more than a Prophet.”

The Prophet in Chains
Drawing directly from sacred scripture, historical documents, and archaeological findings, this graphic novel illustrates John’s life growing up in first-century Judea as the son of a temple priest.
The narrative begins with John imprisoned by Herod Antipas, the tetrarch of Galilee and Perea, for publicly condemning Herod's illicit marriage. While in chains, John is visited by a mysterious admirer. Driven by a desperate need to find Adonai’s will for his own life, this visitor is determined to find out if John truly is a Prophet of God. Confined to a dark cell as his fate hangs in the balance, John readily answers the visitor’s inquiries. Through this high-stakes exchange, we unlock the past:
• Being the cousin of Jesus, growing up in first-century Judea, and celebrating Passover as a child.
• Exposing the corrupt hypocrites ruling the palace and the temple.
• Baptizing the Messiah in the wild waters of the Jordan.
Yet, as John rots away in a dark prison cell, he faces an intense, agonizing struggle under the crushing weight of his circumstances. While Jesus freely roams around performing a vast array of miracles, he never once attempts to intervene for his suffering forerunner, testing the endurance of everyone tracking His movements.
